Why the Embodied Philosophy Sādhana School Approach to Yoga Teacher Training?
An empowering journey awaits you . . .
Embodied Philosophy will provide you with all the Yoga Alliance-certified skills to launch (or expand) your yoga teaching practice. We will equip you with little-known practices, techniques, and technologies, and we will train you to teach not just the physical postures of yoga (āsana), but (perhaps more importantly) the subtle yogic practices of breath, meditation, chanting, and visualization.
The yoga teacher as we understand it at Embodied Philosophy honors the present paradigm of modern postural
yoga, but expands and deepens the possibilities of yogic teaching by grounding this teacher training process in the practices, traditions, and sacred texts that are very often either unknown or largely ignored by the majority of yoga teacher trainings available today.
Over six immersive weekends scheduled over six months (January - June 2025), you will learn how to teach foundational āsanas (postures), learn about functional anatomy and physiology, principles and approaches to teaching methodology, and develop skills to thrive in a modern yoga business climate – both online and offline.
. . . to equip yourself with with sacred practices and modern skills.
. . . to expand how yoga is perceived, taught, and lived.
. . . where ancient wisdom meets modern practice, beyond the physical postures.
. . . to understand and teach both āsana and yoga technologies often-overlooked by other programs.

Learning Objective These sessions explore the profound Rasa Theory and its application to the aesthetics of yogic experience, bridging the realms of philosophy, art, and embodied practice. Whether attended live or on-demand, this session offers a rich exploration of yoga’s aesthetic and philosophical dimensions.

In the face of so much insecurity in the modern yoga teaching world, we have an opportunity to discover new ways for yoga teachers to be of service in a changing world. The future we envision is one that embraces the subtle wisdom teachings of yoga as a way to revivify and expand the possibilities of yoga teaching beyond the studio model that has dominated recent yoga history.
We will look at the yoga teacher through the lens of multiple intersections. Somatics, psychotherapy, scholarship, activism, and trauma-informed perspectives are just a few of the orientations that modern yoga finds itself in fruitful conversation with. Exploring how yoga informs and is informed by these professional disciplines will open us to possibilities for how a modern yoga teacher might consider their pathway into the future. We will explore how recent events have shaped the trajectory of the yoga teacher and the yoga studio, as well as discuss how the identity of the modern yoga practitioner has shifted in the wake of conversations around cultural appropriation, trauma, abuses of power, and dynamics of cult and conformity.
We seek to both connect with yoga’s esoteric, ritualistic, and intellectual past, and to interact with the modern theoretical perspectives that allow us to shed light on our blind spots. This future, we hope, will be a wiser and more mature one, making the continued presence of yoga in our world a source of compassion rather than callousness, insight rather than ignorance, liberation rather than subjugation.
