Sequencing for Yoga Teachers
Understand the Body as a System for Masterful Progressions. . .
NOW ON-DEMAND
Unlock the Art of Intelligent Sequencing Through Patterns, Progressions, and Connection
In asana practice, a sequence is a collection of asanas where order matters. Krama (or vinyasa krama depending on the type of Yoga you teach) is the Sanskrit word that embodies this step by step approach to putting a class together. A sequence also tells a story, and as a teacher, you are the author. While there may be ways to sequence a class that don’t make a ton of logical sense, there is no “right way” to tell the story.
You, as the teacher, have the opportunity to be creative in the way you choose to illuminate shapes, actions, and ultimately parts of the body for your students. The end goal is always the same: to set your student up for success. How can you prepare them so that when they proceed to the next step, they feel ready and prepared? We will look at pose deconstruction and reconstruction within an asana’s family of postures, and will touch on myofascial connections in the body along the way.
We invite you to explore sequencing as both an art and a science. In this immersive workshop, we will move beyond rigid class structures into a deeper understanding of how sequencing creates relationships between postures. By integrating both traditional vinyasa krama principles and modern insights into myofascial connections, we will uncover how intentional sequencing supports fluid, intelligent movement and enhances the student experience.
This 4-hour lecture and seminar is a portion of the Embodied Philosophy's Yoga Teacher Training that is available for one-off purchase. This course was recorded live and is now available on-demand to study at your own pace.
